Translated literally as 'cloud dragon paper', Unryu is made by adding long course fibers to a wet
layer of Kozo (mulberry) on the mould. A highly decorative sheet which is perfect for adding depth to a print. Designed for use with archival ink jet printers, Moenkopi papers have been treated for use with most dye and pigment inks for a sharp image structure but maintain the exquisite feel expected from a fine Japanese Washi paper.
Basis weight: 55 gsm, 10 mil, single-sided.
Moenkopi [moe-in-koe-pee] is not a Japanese name and Moab is not located in Japan, but these papers represent a unique partnership with the Awagami Factory in Tokushima, Japan. Moenkopi is a Native-American name which was used to identify a mudstone layer of rock common in the Moab area. The world-famous Fisher Towers seen in many a John Wayne film, were formed in this strata. These unique towers seem to flow from the earth. It is fitting then that Moenkopi would be
used to define our family of environmentally-friendly Japanese papers made primarily from Kozo (mulberry) fibers.
