The UP-D70A is a letter-size dye sublimation printer that produces high quality 300 dpi hard copy color images in 85 seconds. This printer can produce color or black and white prints from SCSI and Centronics digital interfaces, or can be networked using the optional TMax P891 or the Sony UPA-D3 DICOM print server. It offers advancements in image quality and ease-of-use. The UP-D70A provides printing for users in portrait, publishing, computer graphics design and scientific applications.

Sony dye sublimation thermal transfer printing technology provides near-photographic quality prints with over 16 million color variations. New gamma controls, color correction tables, and a Picture Quality VLSI IC provide accurate color fidelity and reproduction that is unparalleled. With one optional DICOM interface, UPA-D3, up to six Sony digital printers can be connected to your local area network and print CR, CT, MR, SC, US, XA, XRF, and XA_BI_PLANE images.

A newly developed thermal print head with 2550 individual print elements provides the high resolution required for photo-realistic reproduction of images and text. The 150 dpi mode is available to save time and take advantage of the lower memory and host storage requirements. For high performance printing, the SCSI interface provides high speed data connections. This interface provides the fastest downloading of large image files which is perfect for portrait and computer graphic applications requiring continuous tone, photo-realistic prints. The Centronics parallel interface provides easy connection to any PC.
